Extreme Weather: Hurricane Michael – Important Information

Restrictions due to Severe Weather

Extreme weather warnings can cause restrictions on insurance activities. When there is an extreme weather warning for a county, our companies require that we cease certain activities in that area.

These restrictions are as follows:

New Business

We cannot write any full coverage auto policies or any homeowners policies

Reinstatements

We will not be able to reinstate any policy

Endorsements

If you currently do not have a full coverage vehicle, we cannot add a full coverage vehicle or change your policy to full coverage

Once the storm restrictions have passed, we will be able to continue to do those listed activities.

What does this mean for you?

If your policy is up for renewal or due for a payment over the weekend or next week you will need to make sure it is paid prior to the cancellation date. Many companies have already begun restricting binding which would prevent them from allowing reinstatements, some coverage changes, or new policies being written until after the storm passes. Please remember that on policy renewals the payment must be paid the day before the policy expires to avoid it going into cancellation.

Remember, you can avoid waiting on hold by paying your policy online at https://ableautoinsurance.com/service/ or give us a call at (800) 273-2222.

Hurricane Dorian

Hurricane Dorian has been strengthening as its projected path continues to steer towards North Carolina. According to current projections from NOAA, Dorian looks like it will begin affecting our area on Wednesday of next week.

Hurricane Preparedness

If you have homeowner’s or renter’s insurance, we strongly recommend taking a photo or video of every room in your house and emailing it to yourself. These photos can be critical in ensuring your claims process goes quickly and and efficiently.
